John asks…

What paint do I use…?

I am wondering, what the best brand paint I should use for painting a bike frame? I think spray paint is the best, i’m just not sure what brand to use

I don’t have eneough money to powdercoat it so that is out of the question.

And if this helps, the frame is steel

Aklymroofing answers:

You don’t need to worry about powder coating the frame. Just get a good quality metal spray paint, for exterior use if it so specifies. Spraying woul be best because you won’t have to worry about streaks or brush strokes. Just don’t spray too close or too thick..thin coats are better than one thick coat.

Good luck

Should I get Graphite Mica Gray or Gunmetal Blue for the 2010 Mazda 3?!?

I’m a 24 year old girl buying my first brand new car… so it’s a tough decision!

Aklymroofing answers:

The only way to decide is to compare the two colors in the real world. Take two cars and set them side by side out in the bright sunlight and that should help make your decision. DO NOT rely on color charts in books or computer screens for your color choice because both of them distort the real color.

Another thing to consider is interior color. Some exterior colors limit your interior choices. Make sure your seating choice is available with the paint colors you want.

Remember this, the darker the car, the harder it is to keep it looking clean. Light colors hide dirt, dark colors don’t.

Need a good whole-house paint color.?

We recently purchased a 2700 sq. ft. home, built in 1900. The home has a lot of beautiful old woodwork, but the owners have painted the walls this dark turquoise color. Combined with the wood, the house looks very dark. We want to find a single color to repaint the entire inside (not the wood, obviously) so we have a “blank slate” and can play around with colors room-by-room later. Seems like every time I pick a color, I bring it home and it looks very different than I thought. Here’s what I’m looking for if anybody has any experience with specific colors and paint brands.
Something a little darker than cream, but not so dark that it makes the house look dark. I don’t want anything peachy or yellow. Something a little more earthy that will work well in different rooms with different furniture. Any ideas??? Thanks!

Aklymroofing answers:

Go to your local Home Center or Paint Store & bring home some color chips (samples) to see what goes best with your furniture or landscape, for the exterior.

Advice on tinting paint?

I have large tin of dulux weathershield grey, and I wanted to add a yellow tint. I see theres some universal yellow tinter for sale unknown brand , also a dulux yellow base at hardware. Which would be best? Ideally another tin of yellow weathershield I suppose but less $ for tinter or base if OK.

Aklymroofing answers:

You have dulux weathershield exterior acrylic water based paint you will not have much effect at changing the grey colour by adding yellow.tinter.or other universal tinters.
And even adding the same quanity of yellow base would turn out shocking.colour.

Just forget about it and buy big tin of colour you want will be at cheaper rate than 4 litre tins anyway.

Use the grey on an outbuilding as the grey colours are more a current.look.if you still want to use it.

Does anyone know where I can find the value of a 40 year old dollhouse, complete with furniture and a family ?

Hi Everybody! Still spring cleaning here! So much stuff to get rid of. I am looking to sell this old 3 story dollhouse (2’x3’x15″) my dad made for me about 40 years ago. Since then, it has had some work done on it to try to make it a loving home, but still needs some TLC – Stained wood siding put on the sides and front, needs a little patching up. A new roof that needs a few shingles. Exterior painted a colonial blue with accents on the trim Beautiful wood flooring, and old stove and an ice chest from 1800’s and a brand new wash tub basin for laundry. Comes fully furnished with furniture from all over the world and a family – a mamma, a pappa, brother and sis. Looking to sell it on Ebay or any other avenue that will give me a good price. Does anyone have any ideas? Willing to sell to the right family. It’s all about location, location, location.

Check out “Miniatures Only Auction” for ideas and possible listing:

They are a fairly small site, still, but exclusively miniatures with extremely low fees. You will need to know your shipping costs, but you would need to know that for any site. Shipping might be an issue due to the size. You may have to try craigslist or your local want ads, or try this miniatures organization site:
where they list local clubs. If you find one in your area, you might find either a person there to buy or help sell it, or find a SHOW that is going on that will allow you to sell it.
